Ultra Sound

We perform Ultrasound for pregnancy at our office in Grass Valley.  Although ultrasound is not the best way to determine litter size ( We recommend an xray after 56 days to better determine litter size) this procedure is very helpful for early determination of pregnancy so you can make plans! It is also valuable to ensure the fetus’ are healthy, heart beats are strong and pups are viable.  The ultrasound is done around 30 days post breeding and at the same time, we can run a progesterone on your bitch, if warranted, to ensure her progesterone levels are remaining high enough to maintain the pregnancy.

This procedure is completely non invasive and does not cause any harm to the fetus’. Ultrasound is completely safe for your bitch and pups. She is placed on her back, in a padded, V shaped trough for the procedure. Most falls asleep during the procedure! The procedure takes about 5-10 minutes.
